Learn to make soap from both animal and vegetable fats in an afternoon. For anyone thirteen or older (we work with lye), well make several batches of wonderful and long-lasting soaps. (All of this started 20 years ago because we wanted to make something useful from the pig fat). Youll take home samples, and also recipes so you can start right away to make more. The workshop runs from 1:00 until 5:00. Limited to 4, $65. |

Learn to Spin |

For anyone 12 or older, you'll spend the day learning to make yarn. We'll talk process - and then make yarn with several different spinning tools. You'll evaluate, wash and card wool, and leave with wool samples from many breeds. We'll also handle plant fibers and a few from other animals. A great farm lunch is included, as well as a chance to meet the fiber-bearing animals here on the farm. Workshop runs from 9 AM to 5 PM. $120, including lunch and materials. Limited to 4 participants. Participants are welcome to bring their own wheel and/or use the wheels here at the farm. |

Spring Sheep Shearing Day | 16 March

Our annual spring wool harvest festival. We'll be shearing about 20 this time, Romney Marsh and also fine wools. There'll be great food (to eat and to bring home), lots of music and gorgeous wool in many forms. This year we'll again have yarn for knitters and weavers. There'll be angora from the rabbits, fiber demos and animals to visit. Actual shearing time will be posted on the home page about a week ahead...other things throughout the day. The sheepdog herding demo concludes the day.
No charge, but donations for farm scholarships cheerfully accepted. Parking instructions will be posted on the home page March 13. Snow date is March 17. |

APRIL EVENTS |
Lambing Days- and Nights | 3 April

Many of our lambs will be born about this time. Families (of all configurations)are invited to spend a day and night on the farm. You can hang out with the sheep all day, you can spend time with the other farm animals, you can do chores- or not. We'll feed you three good farm meals, but eating may be delayed if a sheep's in labor. Seeing a birth is not guaranteed, but we can promise barn birth videos. And some lambs bouncing around. We'll wake you if a birth seems imminent- or you can choose to sleep. Guests arrive about 11:00 am and leave about 10:00 the next morning. Limited to 1 or 2 families at a time. $80 per adult, $45 for kids 3-12. Dates still available as of 3/31: 4/8, 4/9, 4/11, 4/12, 4/15. |

Learning to weave does take some time and effort. Here's your chance to see if maybe weaving is something that you'd really like to explore.
Three of our floor looms will be warped- already to make some cloth. You get to play. Try different looms with different kinds of warps. We'll get you started... You'll have 3 hours to play- and then consider how/if you might want to continue. And your pieces will be mailed to you- well before Christmas.
There are two sessions each day. The first is 9:00 to noon; the second 1:00 to 4:00 |
